Size Matters: Because Rain Doesn't Hold Back
A gutter isn’t just a gutter—it’s your home’s first defense against water damage.
When it comes to gutters, size really does matter. Choosing between 5" and 6" may seem minor, but it’s a decision that can affect how your home handles everything from light drizzles to SoCal downpours.
5" Gutters
Are standard for many homes. They work well for simple, single-story homes with moderate roof pitch.
6" Gutters
Can handle nearly 40% more water. They’re perfect for homes with steeper roofs, multiple valleys, larger square footage, or areas prone to intense rain.
Wrong Size = Real Problems
If your gutters are too small, water can:
- Traditional homes, ranch-style, craftsman, and new construction
- Splash into flower beds, causing erosion
- Pool in places that attract mosquitoes or pests
Signs Your Current Gutters Might be Too Small
- Water spills over even during light rain
- Stains on walls or foundation after storms
- Gutters that detach or sag (caused by water overflow and weight)
- Water pooling at downspouts or around your home
We don’t guess—we calculate. Our team checks your roof pitch, edge length, and layout to recommend the right size for your specific water flow.
Overflow is over—when you size it right.

Size Matters 5" or 6" FAQs
Rain gutters help protect your home by directing rainwater away from your roof, walls, foundation, and landscaping—preventing water damage, erosion, and mold growth.
We offer Aluminum, Copper, Steel, and Galvanized Rain Gutters in both half-round and K-style designs. Our seamless gutters come in 5" and 6" sizes for a clean, custom fit.
Seamless gutters are made from a single piece of material, custom cut to your home, which means fewer leaks and a sleeker look compared to sectional gutters with joints.
Most residential gutter installations are completed in just one day, depending on the size and complexity of your project.

What Size Gutter Do You Need?
Choosing the right size starts with a home visit where we check the facts—not just the square footage.
We Check the Facts
Roof pitch, valleys, edge length, and even rainfall data determine your water load.
More Roof Lines = More Flow
If your home has dormers, garages, or intersecting roof angles, 6" might be your new best friend.
Rainfall Ready
SoCal can hit hard with quick storms. Bigger gutters = fewer worries when the clouds roll in.
Looks Matter Too
5" gives a subtle, streamlined profile. 6" adds bold curb appeal and a bit of architectural edge. We’ll help you visualize both!
Bigger where it counts. Built to perform.

We've been putting off gutter installation for several years. We finally got around to gettin it done. Called Simply Gutters Hawkins of Simply Gutters. We met Simply Gutters at our home. We told him what we needed and pointed out some problem areas on our home. He had some ideas to remedy the problem areas. After three additional estimates, Simply Gutters was the best bang for the buck, and he offered the best warranty for his product and work.
Installation day arrived. Simply Gutters and his worker Steven finished the project in a day. They even did a walk around to pick up any fallen screws dropped during the install.
Now as with any project, there always seems to be something overlooked in the original estimate to actual install. I pointed out my concerns. Simply Gutters never hesitated to examine the concern and come up with a solution. Simply Gutters has a fantastic attitude and was very pleasant. He assured us he will come back out to take care of any issues once we get some rain and notice any imperfections in the installation.
